1. Introduction

Welcome to GLP1Gut("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Igwe Studios LLC. GLP1Gut is a mobile application and website designed to help users track food intake, digestive symptoms, breath test results, treatment protocols, and meal timing related to Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and related digestive conditions.

We are committed to protecting your personal information — especially your health data — and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, where it is stored, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Health Data and Local-First Architecture

Your health data is stored locally on your device by default. We do not upload, transmit, or store your symptom logs, food diary entries, breath test results, treatment records, or meal timing data on our servers unless you explicitly opt in to cloud backup.

GLP1Gut uses a local-first architecture. This means:

  • Symptom tracking data (bloating severity, pain, brain fog, fatigue, nausea, and all other symptom scores) is stored on your device.
  • Food diary entries (meals, ingredients, photos, timestamps) are stored on your device.
  • Breath test results (hydrogen, methane, hydrogen sulfide readings) are stored on your device.
  • Treatment and supplement logs (medications, dosages, round dates) are stored on your device.
  • Meal spacing timer data is stored on your device.
  • Diet protocol progress (Low-FODMAP, Biphasic, SCD, Elemental phases) is stored on your device.
  • AI-generated insights and trigger reports are generated on-device or processed in a way that does not retain your personal health data on our servers after processing is complete.

We do not sell, license, rent, or share your health data with advertisers, data brokers, insurance companies, employers, or any other third party. We will never monetize your health data.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to provide and improve our Service:

3.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Email address and display name when you create an account. An account is optional — you can use the app without one.
  • Waitlist / Mailing List: If you join our waitlist or newsletter, we collect your email address. This is stored in our database (hosted on Supabase) and used solely to notify you about product launches and send SIBO-related content.
  • Support Communications: If you contact us via email, we retain your message and email address to respond and improve our service.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Analytics Data: We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to collect anonymized, aggregate data about page views, performance metrics (Core Web Vitals), and general usage patterns on our website. This data does not include personal health information and cannot be used to identify individual users.
  • Device Information: Basic device type, operating system, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility purposes.

3.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect or store your health data on our servers (see Section 2).
  • We do not collect your location data.
  • We do not access your contacts, camera roll, or other device data beyond what is required for app functionality (e.g., camera access for food photo logging, which you can deny).
  • We do not use tracking pixels or third-party advertising SDKs.

4. AI and Machine Learning

GLP1Gut uses artificial intelligence to provide features such as:

  • AI Food Recognition: When you photograph a meal, the image may be sent to a third-party AI service for identification. The image is processed in real-time and is not retained by the AI provider after processing. No health data or personal identifiers are sent with the image.
  • AI Trigger Detection: The AI analyzes correlations between your food intake, symptoms, timing, and other logged data. This analysis is performed using data stored locally on your device. The AI generates confidence scores and pattern insights but does not constitute medical diagnosis.

We do not use your personal health data to train AI models. Your data is used solely to generate insights for you.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the GLP1Gut app and website
  • Send product updates and new feature announcements (if you opted in)
  • Send SIBO-related educational content via our newsletter (if you subscribed)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Process payments for premium subscriptions (via Apple App Store or Google Play Store)
  • Monitor aggregate app performance and fix bugs
  • Comply with legal obligations

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Vercel: Website hosting, analytics (anonymized page views), and speed insights (Core Web Vitals). No personal health data is shared with Vercel.
  • Supabase: Database for storing mailing list/waitlist email addresses only. Health data is not stored on Supabase.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Payment processing for premium subscriptions. We do not receive or store your credit card information — all billing is handled by the respective app store.
  • Resend: Email delivery service for waitlist notifications and newsletters. Only your email address is shared.

We do not share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or social media platforms. We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, or any advertising SDK.

7. Payment Information

All premium subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect, process, or store your payment card details, bank account information, or billing address. Payment-related inquiries should be directed to Apple or Google respectively. For subscription management and refund requests, please use the respective app store's subscription settings.

8. Data Storage and Security

On-device data:Your health data is stored in your device's local storage and is protected by your device's built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, device encryption). We recommend enabling a screen lock on your device.

Server-side data: The limited data we do store on servers (email addresses, account info) is protected using industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. Our infrastructure is hosted on Vercel and Supabase, both of which maintain SOC 2 compliance.

No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

  • On-device data: You can delete all health data at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data permanently.
  • Email/account data: We retain your email and account information for as long as your account is active or as long as you remain subscribed to our mailing list. You may request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@glp1gut.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
  • PDF reports: Doctor-ready PDF reports generated by the app are created on your device. We do not retain copies.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

All Users

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your health data from the app (PDF or CSV)
  • Unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time
  • Withdraw consent for data processing

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Right to Know: You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. We have never sold personal information and have no plans to do so.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
  • Right to Correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: Your health data is stored on your device and is not processed on our servers, so this right is inherently protected by our architecture.

European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, you have additional rights including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal basis for processing your data is your consent (which you may withdraw at any time) and our legitimate interest in providing and improving the Service.

11. Apple HealthKit and Google Health Connect

If GLP1Gutintegrates with Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect in the future, any data read from or written to these services will be handled in accordance with Apple's and Google's health data policies. Specifically: we will never use HealthKit or Health Connect data for advertising, we will not share it with third parties, and it will not leave your device without your explicit consent. This section will be updated with specifics if and when such integrations are added.

12. HIPAA Disclaimer

GLP1Gut is a personal wellness and tracking tool. It is not a medical device, healthcare provider, or HIPAA-covered entity. The app does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. GLP1Gut is not subject to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Despite this, we treat your health data with the highest level of care and implement security measures that meet or exceed industry standards for health-related applications.

13. Cookies

Our website uses minimal cookies for essential functionality (such as remembering your preferences). We use Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies and collects only anonymized, aggregate data. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or retargeting pixels.

14. Children's Privacy

GLP1Gut is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@glp1gut.app and we will delete that information promptly.

15. International Data Transfers

Our servers and service providers are located in the United States. If you are accessing GLP1Gut from outside the United States, please be aware that your information (limited to email and account data — not health data) may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using our Service, you consent to this transfer.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page, updating the "Last Updated" date, and — for significant changes — sending a notification via email or in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
